About your car insurance cover

This section covers the basic issues surrounding your car insurance policy. For more detail you should read your policy documentation.

Am I covered when I test drive or hire a car?

No, you will need to ensure that there is cover in place from the rental company or car dealer. Our car insurance policies do not cover hire or courtesy cars except where the courtesy car is provided by a recommended repairer as a result of a claim whilst your own vehicle is being repaired.

Will you provide cover for someone else to drive my car for short periods?

Additional drivers may be able to be added to your car insurance policy on a temporary basis - just call us to add them. There will be a charge for this service (a minimum charge of £15 will be applied).

There are limits to how long a driver can be added as a temporary driver. They will usually be added for a 14 day period and this can be extended up to 4 times in a twelve month period.

Can I use my car on track days?

You will not be covered by your yesinsurance.co.uk policy if the car is used in speed trials, racing or rallies. You will need to arrange alternative insurance cover for these types of events.

Your car is also not covered for use in connection with the motor trade or for hire or reward.

Do I get a courtesy car if my car is being repaired as a result of making a claim?

Yes, subject to your cover. If your car is being repaired by an approved repairer you will get a courtesy car (subject to availability).
